I know. I KNOW it has been basically FOREVER since I last updated the breakfast blog. I know all of you readers out there are probably impatient and dying to know what weird thing Maddie has eaten for breakfast lately, or what father has smushed to death recently, or what strange thing I've discovered about my strange family today. Believe me, I wish I had the material/time/energy to entertain you with the latest story of Dawson insanity and chaos. If I could, I'd wittily describe our dysfunctional antics so that you'd be set for your week's worth of laughter. As much as I hate to disappoint you, I will.
Nothing eventful has happened these past few blogless days. School has started which means that even Maddie doesn't have the time or energy to put together her usual unique morning meal. (Yes, that was an intended oxymoron.) Even if she was able to do so, I wouldn't know about it seeing as I'm typically already on the bloody bus to get to university by the time she's munching away on cereal.
It's September. Life is busy and confusing and we're all just trying to get back into a routine to cope with the general madness. This means buttloads of coffee for mom and me, and random cereal mixtures for Maddie and dad. Cereal seems to always have the potential to be something somewhat creative, even when time is not something one has a lot of. As I have witnessed by being present at the kitchen table around the fam jam at breakfast time, it is perfectly acceptable to combine two or more different types of cereal in one bowl and/or add whatever fruit may be lying around that particular day. (See previous blog on "Cereal Fusion"). Given the choices of "creative", "resourceful", and "weird", I'd have to go with "(D) - All of the above" when it comes to my loved ones' cereal behavior.
Admittedly, there have been a few toasted tomato sandwiches lingering around certain family members' recent breakfasts which is most likely a result of the ridiculous explosion of our tomato plants these past few days. At one point, I'm fairly certain that dad was eating tomatoes for every meal. (I've already contacted "Tomato-aholics Anonymous" to schedule an intervention.) At least we won't have to worry about scurvy for a few months...
And that, dear readers, is all I've got to offer for the time being. I'll be back after a loooong sleep, a few more cups of coffee, and some morning grilled cheese.
This is wonderful.
